Actual passenger stations in Europe are designed to meet requirements imposed by different transport networks fully in accordance with urban surrounding. In such a way, stations become centers that offer different traffic-related services or services indirectly connected to passenger flows.

Belgrade Center Station is a core of passenger system within the Belgrade Railway Junction. It is situated in the center of the city on the right Sava River bank. This is a passing station for numerous trains and enables good connection with the city arterials and metro. It is designed as modern passenger station provided with 10 tracks, 6 platforms and station building situated within the business-commercial complex.

Today, the Sava Amphitheatre Complex accommodates different railway facilities.

Construction of the Belgrade Center passenger station, as well as maintenance facilities in Zemun and Kijevo Stations, including freight transport center in Makiš and Beli Potok-Vinča-Pančevo bypass line, the freight and passenger systems shall be organized to meet the junction concept requirements.
In such a way, the Sava Amphitheatre Complex that occupies about 80 ha in area, shall become an attractive location and both City of Belgrade and the Republic of Serbia will experience a multi-million financial benefit.

The works also included equipping the segment of the platform and subway for passenger approach. Works on construction of the main station through tracks No. 5 and No. 6 and their temporary connections with the left track on Pančevački Most were entrusted to the Contractor (''Energorprojekt Visokogradnja''), while the Institute of Transportation CIP together with the ''Serbian Railways'' PE was engaged in supervision works. The works also included equipping the segment of the platform and subway for passenger approach.

Tracks were put into operation after providing all relevant approvals.

Completion of these works will enable establishment of regular traffic flow on the double track railway line on Batajnica-Pančevo, Batajnica-Resnik and Resnik-Pančevo sections within the ''Beovoz'' transport system.
For the first time, a new construction technology was implemented in Serbia. It included placement of track on concrete slab by using the state-of-the-art track fastening system, PANDROL VANGUARD type, that enables absorption of noise and vibration and provides protection for station and other residential buildings.

After completion of works, experts from PANDROL company performed inspection and verified that works and installation of track fastening sets were carried out according to high quality standards

Connection of the terminal and the railway network will be enabled via the line coming from the Belgrade marshaling yard. Vicinity of the marshaling yard will allow common utilization of the existing capacities.

The location is planned to be connected with Savska Main Road and Belgrade by-pass road (E-75) via roundabout (Železnik road) and grade-separated junction (Savska Main Road). Connection of the terminal and the railway network will be enabled via the line coming from the Belgrade marshaling yard. Vicinity of the marshaling yard will allow common utilization of the existing capacities. The freight terminal shall be for onward transit. The complex includes several independent units and their functioning shall be enabled via control and service sub-systems. According to the Preliminary design of the railway freight terminal, the following sub-systems are planned to be installed: business-administrative and control system, container terminal, RoLa terminal, freight warehouse, tracks and areas for handling of wagon goods, including service block. Adequate number of parking lots for freight vehicles and cars is also planned to be provided.
