Preliminary design of the railway junction in Novi Sad, phase II, facilities for locomotive depot, passenger station, maintenance, supplies group and wagon workshop activities

The Institute of Transportation CIP developed the Preliminary design of facilities and structures for locomotive depot, passenger station, maintenance, supplies group and wagon workshop activities based on the General Design adopted by the Republic Revision Committee in 2002.

within the marshaling yard, technological requirements, present and planned utilities. The old railway station in Novi Sad shall be definitely abandoned once structures in the phase II have been constructed.

The locomotive depot was designed as combined structure of terraced shape that accommodates halls "A" and "B". The hall "A" is planned for inspection and maintenance of diesel locomotives, electro-locomotives and emergency inspection, while the hall "B" is planned for inspection and maintenance of diesel and electro-motive trains.

Rough cleaning, washing and care of wagons and train sets is planned to be performed in the hall within the passenger station and maintenance facilities. For the purpose of these activities, a special tracks were designed for acceptance, stabling, minor maintenance, dispatching and sets forming.

The purpose of the supplies group is to supply the tractive vehicles with sand, oil, water and fuel. Facilities designed for these activities are as follows; sand distributor, pump station, oil storage, refueling area, diesel fuel storage, fire protection system, overloading pump station, underground tank, canals for daily inspections and stopping point for diesel fuel supply.

The wagon workshop is planned for maintenance of both passenger cars and freight wagons by performing the regular and emergency inspections: daily checks, monthly inspections, minor and major repairs, and control inspection.

The complex also includes waste water treatment plant, and inner access driveways together with parking lots.
