In addition, design documentation also included geodetic setting out design. Technical documentation prepared in 2011 for the level of Final design included as follows: geotechnical documentation, final civil engineering design of both substructure and permanent way, tramway tracks, pavement, sidewalks, parking lots, sewage network, OCS, control and heating of points, traffic signaling and equipment, lighting system, hot water pipeline protection and cathodic protection, and work methodology design. In addition, design documentation also included geodetic setting out design.

Reconstruction of the double track tram line from Autokomanda roundabout to tramway loop in Banjica included the line in the total length of about 4,500 m, as well as ''Autokomanda'' roundabout and ''Trošarina'' tramway terminals.

The newly-designed cross section of the street varies from 16 m to 20 m in width while tramway tracks, 1000 mm wide, are located in the middle of the street and within the tramway track area, 7.30 m wide. The line is designed in grade with 3.0 m wide traffic lanes on either side and sidewalks. On-street parking (parking along the outer pavement edge) is enabled on the segment of the street where conditions allow.

The studied works also included intersections.

The reconstruction works started at the beginning of the existing point that enables right turn from Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard to Ruzveltova Street immediately in front of Vukov Spomenik. Reconstruction ended behind the intersection with Gospodara Vučića Street near Cvetko's Market. Reconstruction works included section of the street in the length of about 2500 m.

The newly-designed cross section of the street includes: tramway track area, 7.50 m wide, located in the middle of the street and 6.50 m wide traffic lanes and sidewalks on either side. Parking lots are planned along the pavement outer edge.

Works on reconstruction also included intersections. Intersections with Batutova and Gospodara Vučića Streets are fully equipped while the other ones are designed according to entrance-exit principle.

The standard track, 1000 mm wide, is accommodated in the 7.50 m wide tramway track area, separated and raised as compared to the pavement. Track-to-track distance is 3.80 m. Stopping places are 60 m long, and 3 m wide. Twelve (12) stopping places are planned for construction.

The carriageway is composed of two traffic lanes for each direction, with the total width of 6.50 m. On-street parking is planned along the outer pavement edge. The parking lot sizes are: 2.3x5.0, for angle parking, and 2.0x6.0 for parallel parking.

The planned rehabilitation works were performed on right track (660 m), left track (606 m), 240 m (loop right track) and loop left track (211 m), which made the overall length of 1702 m.

Works included complete replacement of substructure and permanent way and erection of the new OCS.

Resavska Street and rehabilitation of Trašmajdan tramway loop

Resavska Street belongs to streets that integrate the city core. Tracks are positioned in the middle of the street segment between Nemanjina Street and Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard. These tracks enable connection with the line that runs through Nemanjina Street and tramway loop in front of the St. Marc Church in Tašmajdan Park.

Reconstruction works included the street and tramway line in the length of 634 m. Works also included complete replacement of substructure and permanent way, reconstruction of sidewalks and placement of new curbs, partial reconstruction of drainage system as well as reconstruction of OCS.

Тramway loop in Tašmajdan is located next to Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard, on the plateau in front of the St. Marc Church.

In addition to tracks in the area of intersection of Resavska Street and Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard, rehabilitation works also included forming of the lane for right turning. Works were performed in the length of 300 m.

 

 

Požeška Street

Reconstruction works were performed on the double-track tramway line, from Gospodarska Mehana to the tramway loop in Požeška Street, in the total length of 3,872 m.

The line alignment is composed of the following two specific sections:

Section from the tramway loop near the Belgrade Fair to the branching off point, 530 m long, that represents an integrating segment of tram lines that run to Rakovica /Kneževac and Banovo Brdo; and

Section from the branching off point to the tramway loop in Požeška Street, 3,372 m long, that was built in 1986.

New tracks are positioned within the available space of the present corridor with center-to-center spacing of 3.80 m (instead of the present 3.60 m), from Gospodarska Mehana to the beginning of Požeška Street, and form intersection with Trebevićka Street to the tramway loop. 

Necessary spacing was done in curves due to vehicle buckling.

The present tramway construction is completely replaced with the new one on the section from Gospodarska Mehana to the branching off point.

Оpen line

On the open line in Požeška Street and in the vicinity of Hippodrome, the existing trackwork was demolished and tracks dismantled on certain segments, while the concrete slab was properly cleaned.

The existing concrete slab was extended to enable widening of the tramway track area.

Line on the bridges

Once the track filling was demolished, tracks dismantled, and waterproofing layers removed, a new trackwork was formed of the following members:

  • New polyurethane waterproofing layer;
  • Rails, ties and sleepers together with insulating members that were placed into the designed position and adjusted per line and grade;
  • Polyurethane underlay under the rail toe;
  • New curbs; and
  • Concrete filling (cement-concrete pavement).

Тramway loop and bus terminal

The present track filling and curbs were demolished, track was dismantled on certain segments and surface of the existing concrete slab cleaned.

Most of the concrete slabs was replaced with the new ones due to displacement and extension of both tramway track area and bus terminal.

The subject of the design herein is construction works on pavement and sidewalks in Požeška Street in the length of about 2237 m.

From dock to Cara Dušana Street

The studied section includes segment from the intersection with Vojvode Bojovića Street (immediately behind the tramway loop) to the intersection with Cara Dušana Street. The tramway alignment follows two streets: Pariska and Tadeuša Košćuška Streets and runs along the perimeter of Kalemegdan Park. 

Works included complete replacement of substructure and permanent way, as well as reconstruction of sidewalks, placement of new curbs along Tadeuša Košćuška Street, segmental reconstruction of drainage system and erection of new OCS.

The total length planned for reconstruction works - 2112 m.

The design has accepted the fact that this Boulevard is used for traffic running from Ibarska Main Road as well as significant number of level crossings with the tram line that enable passage for users of business complex across the Belgrade Fair.

The studied section is 1703 m long (left track), i.e. 1700 m long (right track). The overall length of tram tracks as specified in the design is 3403 m.

The design also included tramway loop near Gospodarska Mehana.

Autokomanda Roundabout

Together with ''Autokomanda'' Roundabout, Bulevar Oslobođenja Street is supposed to be one of the most significant traffic arterials within the Belgrade city core. This street enables flow of both passengers and goods thus creating connection between the Belgrade-Niš highway and the downtown on one side and Voždovac Municipality and Slavija Square on the other.

The street herein suffered significant traffic load as a result of suburban traffic, public city transportation, operation of tramway vehicles and passenger cars.

The street also witnessed collisions of tramway and road traffic, since the tramway track areas were also used for road vehicle operations.

Reconstruction works performed on the segment of Bulevar Oslobođenja Street, from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to Autokomanda Roundabout, also included reconstruction of bridge structures, tramway line, pavement and pedestrian areas.


The section included in reconstruction works was 758 m long (right track), i.e. 732 m long (left track).

Nemanjina Street

Nemanjina Street belongs to arterials that integrate the city core. The street connects Savski Square, in front of the Central Railway Station, with Slavija Square which is considered to be one of the most important city junction point.

Between Slavija and Savski Squares, the street is intersected by the following streets: Balkanska (Sarajevska) Street, Kneza Miloša Street and Resavska Street. Very important intersections are established at the point of their crossing. The street is diagonally intersected by Svetozara Markovića and Kralja Milutina

Reconstructed works were performed in the length of 975 m. The present cross section of the street included pedestrian areas on either side, separated carriageway and double-track tramway line positioned in the middle of the street.

Works also included segment of the pavement and tramway tracks on Savski Square as well as the present loop near ''Partizan'' Cinema.

Stamped concrete was used as finish for the tramway track areas.

Savska Street

Savska Street belongs to arterials that integrate city core. The street connects "Мostar Interchange " and the Central Railway Station, i.e. Banovo Brdo and the Belgrade-Niš Highway with Savski Square. In addition to Kneza Miloša Street, this street is considered to be one of the busiest city arterials.

Savski Square is a space where Savska Street joins Karađorđeva and Nemanjina Streets and tramway tracks run toward the Faculty of Economics and Slavija Square.

Reconstruction works included segment of the carriageway and tramway tracks from Drinska Street to Savski Square.

Works were performed in the length of about 793 m of the double-track tram line. The street cross section included pedestrian areas on either side, three traffic lanes and double-track tram line positioned next to the left pavement edge.

For the first time, grass finish provided with adequate watering system was used for covering the tramway track area.

Milentija Popovića Street, III Boulevard, and Proleterske solidarnosti Street

Reconstruction works on tramway line in Milentija Popovića Street, III Boulevard and Proleterske Solidarnosti Street (to Jurija Gagarina Street) included the section from the Hyatt Regency Hotel to the beginning of Jurija Gagarina Street.

Works were performed in the length of 4.736 m.

In Milentija Popovića Street, asphalt cover was spread in the track area, while in III Boulevard and Proleterske Solidarnosti Street, grass cover provided with adequate watering system was placed. ]]>
